GUNMEN last night stormed a five-star hotel in Afghanistan — throwing guests from windows and leaving up to 15 people feared dead.
At least four attackers opened fire and took hostages at the Intercontinental Hotel in the capital Kabul — popular with foreign tourists and diplomats.
An Afghanistan security official confirmed the attack is ongoing, saying “they are shooting at guests” — while an eyewitness said victims are being thrown from the six-storey building.
At least seven people have been wounded and security forces are tonight slowly clearing the hotel floor by floor.
The gunmen began their terrifying raid at 9pm local time (4:30pm GMT) and are believed to be using automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades.
Blazes raged on the fourth floor and in the kitchen while at least two attackers were killed in gunfights with special forces laying siege to the hotel.
