THE Great Eastern Highway has been closed eastbound after a serious crash on Thursday.
The crash happened in Mahogany Creek, near the Brooking Road intersection around 5.45pm.
At least one person is trapped inside the vehicle with fire crews working to cut the man free.
A second person was out of the vehicle.
Main Roads has closed the Great Eastern Highway between Marri Road and Brooking Road in Hovea as emergency crews work at the scene.
The rescue helicopter has landed on the highway, ready to transport the seriously injured patient who has been trapped for more than an hour.
Motorists are asked to seek an alternative route or be patient travelling through the area.
The crash comes just over an hour after a man was cut free from his van following a separate crash in Perth’s Hills.
The man’s van hit a power pole on Bahen Road just after 4.30pm.
He was cut free from his vehicle and rushed to hospital.
