Federal senator Derryn Hinch has been hospitalised after a fall from an Uber in Melbourne.
Senator Hinch, 74, said he spent Monday night at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne after being diagnosed with what he called “slight brain trauma” from the tumble on St Kilda Road.
“Thank goodness the Uber driver and a passer-by called an ambulance which was here in four minutes,” he told reporters on Thursday.
“I was unconscious, knocked out, [with a] big lump on the back of my head.
“The next thing I knew, I was in the Alfred Hospital with lots of tubes coming out of me and metal studs on me for the heart.”
Senator Hinch, who had a liver transplant in 2011, said he had two glasses of wine at dinner on Monday.
“Was I pissed? No I wasn’t,” he told Sky News.
