POLICE have declared an emergency situation and created a 100m exclusion zone around a shopping centre west of Brisbane following the discovery of a suspected explosive device this morning.
The Queensland Times reports that witnesses reported two people acting suspiciously in the car park of the Redbank Plaza shopping centre.
Initial reports suggest the pair were seen stripping wires and that they appeared nervous.
Police attended and reportedly located a suspected improvised explosive device.
Police declared an emergency situation at 9.15am.
An exclusion zone has been set up an encompassing Collingwood Drive, Law Street South, Ipswich Motorway Service Road and Redbank Plaza Service Road.
Specialist police are in attendance.
A man and a woman are assisting police with their inquiries.
