Nic Naitanui deserves his one-game rough conduct ban, according to football writer Mark Duffield.
The Eagles will challenge the star ruckman’s penalty for his tackle on Karl Amon in Saturday’s 42-point win over Port Adelaide at Optus Stadium.
Naitanui gave away a free kick when he drove Amon into the ground in a tackle in the final quarter of the match.
Amon got up and was fine to take his kick but that hasn’t saved Naitanui from a ban, with West Coast opting to challenge at Wednesday night’s tribunal.
“The reality is he’s driven (Karl Amon) forward and downwards, and he’s driven his head into the dirt,” Duffield said.
“If you think that’s acceptable, you would also have to accept that if he does this 20 times someone is going to end up on a stretcher, and if he does it 50 times someone will end up in a wheelchair…
