A FORMER professional soccer player, who is already behind bars for stabbing his wife in Western Australia, has been jailed for more than two years over a cold case indecent assault against a neighbour.
Miladin Gligoroski, 44, attacked the woman in front of children at his home in August 2005, but was not charged until 2016.
The victim says she is still haunted by the assault, which included touching and kissing without her consent.
Gligoroski pleaded guilty on the first day of his trial in the WA District Court to deprivation of liberty and two counts of indecent assault.
Judge Ronald Birmingham said on Wednesday the attack was frightening for the woman and the children.
“This was a forceful detention of her, short in time but forceful. It was by any measure a serious attack,” he said.
“It would have been frightening for a young mother with children.”
Gligoroski had a successful soccer career in Macedonia but injury ended his career and he later became an alcoholic, the court heard.
