So far just 29.4ml of rain has fallen in the city since the start of March, with the record for the driest autumn 42.4ml in 1983.

WA Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Neil Bennett said the run of dry weather in the mid-20s would continue into the middle of this week.

β€œWe’ve also only recorded 6.2ml for May so far and if we don’t get at least 8ml between now and the end of the month then we will have had the driest May on record,” he said.
