MORE than 40,000 properties are without power in southern WA after damaging winds and heavy rainfall battered the coast.
A severe weather warning is in place for a second day for parts of the Pilbara and Gascoyne districts, extending to the lower South West region, due to a rain band and a separate strong cold front.
The State’s electricity utility Western Power says restoring power to customers from Kalbarri to Albany, including Perth, may be slow as bad weather hampers the clean-up process.
State Emergency Service crews have responded to 65 calls for help since Monday.
In Mandurah a houseboat was witnessed sinking at the Dawesville foreshore reserve about 9.30am this morning.
It was reported Water Police attempted to reach the vessel and a smaller yellow boat, but left about 10am as conditions became too dangerous.
