Sean Black, former One Nation adviser, convicted of raping and assaulting woman

A former One Nation adviser has been convicted of raping and assaulting a woman more than a decade ago.

Sean David Black had pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count of rape at the beginning of his week-long trial in the District Court in Brisbane.Jurors deliberated for more than 12 hours late into Friday evening before reaching their decision.

The 40-year-old did not show any signs of emotion when the verdict was read out, but family members wept in court.During his trial the court heard Black pushed a woman down stairs, slammed her fingers in a door and raped her in a bathroom.Jurors found Black not guilty of assaulting the woman on one occasion by throwing her against a wall.

Prosecutor Brendan White said Black threatened to shoot the woman in the head.”He had [her] so convinced he was in with the police and the politicians,” he said. The court heard the woman had bruises at the time which were recorded in doctors’ reports.Black’s defence team argued she could have got the injuries from anywhere and said the woman was lying to get leverage over him.
