Australian Wendy Tuck becomes the first woman to win Clipper round-the-world yacht race

Australian Wendy Tuck has become the first female skipper to win a round-the-world yacht race โ€” beating the only other female skipper into second spot.

It is the first time that two female skippers have finished first and second in the Clipper Round the World Race,Twitter

Tuck and 25-year-old Nikki Henderson were the only two female skippers in the 12-strong fleet of 70-foot racing yachts.

“There’s never been a race, a round-the-world race, where you’ve had the two leading skippers both be women,” said race chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston, the first person to sail solo and non-stop around the world.
