PETROL at some Perth service stations will jump 20¢ a litre tomorrow as average fuel prices soar to their highest level on record.

The average price for a litre of unleaded fuel will be 160.7¢ tomorrow, eclipsing the previous record of 160.6¢ set on July 25, 2013.

FuelWatch has warned motorists that all Coles Express sites will lift their unleaded petrol by 20¢ a litre tomorrow to 165.9¢.

This will be the highest one-day price for petrol charged in Perth since January 2014 but short of the record set in August 2008 of $1.72 a litre.

Most Caltex sites will increase their petrol price to 163.9¢ a litre while Puma sites will be offering motorists 162.9¢.

FuelWatch said there are still more than 30 service stations across the city offering petrol below $1.50 a litre, offering a saving of up to $15 on a 60-litre tank of fuel.

The cheapest petrol will be $139.3¢ at the Caltex Woolworths at South Lake and Osborne Park and the United station in Ellenbrook.

Analysts are warning that the oil price could reach $US100 a barrel on the back of America’s continuing sanctions against Iran, up from about $US73 a barrel.
