Passengers aboard a hot-air balloon experienced a rocky start to the morning when their vessel made a dramatic crash-landed in a tree in Eltham.

A hot-air balloon had to be chainsawed out of a tree after a crash landing in Melbourne’s northeast this morning.

Passengers experienced a rocky start to the morning when the balloon came down near Ramptons Rd at Eltham North shortly before 7.30am, a CFA spokesman said.

The balloon was caught in a tree and emergency services crews had to use chainsaws to remove it.

No one was injured but the balloon has been destroyed.
