A Sydney swimmer has shared amazing vision of the “catastrophic” hailstorm that struck News South Wales on Thursday.

Tennis ball-sized hailstones smashed into homes and cars in Sydney’s west around 5pm, while golf ball-sized stones battered the city’s inner suburbs less than an hour later.

Spot Anderson was swimming at Bondi Beach and saw the hail storm sweep across the coast.

He had planned to make a 300m dash to the lifeguard tower to escape the pounding hailstones but luckily a passing surfer offered him shelter under his board…
