A man has died after being hit by a train shortly after another incident in which a man allegedly fled the scene of a car crash in Duncraig.

Around 7.30am this morning police were called to a crash involving three or four cars at the turn-off to Warwick Road on the Mitchell Freeway northbound.

It is understood one of the people involved in the crash fled the area. Shortly afterwards a man was hit by a train, 500m north of the crash scene.

Police are investigating a possible link between the two incidents.

The right lane northbound on the Mitchell Freeway remains closed at Warwick Road as police respond to the incident. The right lane of Warwick Road eastbound is also closed.

Trains on the Joondalup line are cancelled between Whitfords and Stirling stations. Replacement buses will run until the train lines are reopened…
